Dealing with Virus' and other unwanted invasions
AUTORESPONDERS
With web based email it is usually possible to set up a autoresponder.
Whenever a message is received to your mailbox a standard response is sent back.
If the message fails to send you will usually get a mail to confirm that the delivery has failed.
This can occur when a senders address cannot receive mail or the mail address may be ficticious.
Whilst most web based mail systems have email virus scan they do not detect various other invasions
and therefore caution should be exercised.
If you receive a auto response and you have not sent mail to the stated address then your machine may be sending out virus mails unknown to you. This can occur at switch on when virus' may use the contents of your address book to spread themselves.
This is impossible with web based accounts as everything is handled on line and mail programs on your pc need not be used.
Saving of your important email to your pc is the only activity required as usually mail is stored in folders with the service provider.
